Fusion Art Glass Collection by Wm. McGrath

FUSION ART GLASS COLLECTION

Artist William McGrath
Artist Signed

CLOSEOUT SALE
Discontinued by our Supplier

Fusion Art Glass is a timeless treasure of beauty, art and function perfect for the home. Each piece is authenticated with the artist's signature. The exquisite designs are made from an intricate process of stenciling layers of powdered enamel on glass surface. After the designs are tediously created, another piece of glass is placed on top and then kiln fired for upward to 20 hours, fusing all of the glass and color together. The end result is a handcrafted, one of a kind, colorful glass art form. Since the glass is fused by this special process, the items can be used for serving and are fully food and dishwasher safe.

Step by Step Process:
1. Each piece of glass is specially selected and cut into its required shape and size.
2. Once the design is finalized, the colors of the design are separated by layer. Then a separate stencil is created for each color layer.
3. Powdered enamel, in various shades, is applied to the glass using a small, hand-held sifter.
4. Once the enamel is applied, the stencil is gently lifted. This step is then repeated for each stencil until the pattern is completed.
5. After all of the color is applied, another piece of glass is carefully placed on top of the color.
6. Each piece of glass is then placed onto the mold in the kiln and fired at extremely high temps.
7. As the piece reaches its melting point, it begins to slump to the mold taking its appropriate shape and fusing the glass and enamel together.
8. After firing, the piece is removed from the mold and the edges are carefully polished to a smooth finish to give you a complete product.
